Motorsports sponsorship valuation

A sponsorship is worth what a buyer can earn from it, not what a team needs to make the season work. We price packages from the buyer's side, so the number holds up in the room.

What actually drives the value of a motorsports sponsorship

Four things carry the price. Media value: broadcast minutes, livery visibility, and the audience that sees it, discounted hard because a logo on a sidepod is not a 30-second spot. Hospitality: paddock passes, grid walks, and suites that a sponsor can put real clients in. B2B access: the other partners, team owners, and suppliers in the paddock that a sponsor could never reach cold. Activation rights: cars at dealerships, drivers at events, content the brand can run on its own channels.

Most team decks lead with media value because it produces the biggest number. Most buyers ignore it for the same reason. The packages that close are built on the last three.

How we value a package

We start by sizing who the sponsor could sell to through the program, in dollars, not impressions. Then we map every asset in the package to that revenue: which customers come to the track, which introductions the team can make, what the content is worth against the sponsor's current cost of producing it.

The output is a price with a rationale a CFO can read, a tier structure (title, associate, supplier) that leaves room to negotiate, and a list of what to pull from the package before cutting the price.

Who this is for

Race teams in IMSA, USF2000, Indy NXT, Porsche Carrera Cup, Michelin Pilot Challenge, and club-level series that need a defensible number before a sponsor meeting. Brands that have been pitched a package and want an independent read on whether it is worth it. Drivers assembling a budget for a seat.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a race car sponsorship worth?

It ranges from a few thousand dollars for a supplier logo at club level to seven figures for a title position in a professional series. The driver of the number is what the sponsor can sell through the program: hospitality, introductions, and content, more than impressions.

How do you calculate sponsorship media value?

Broadcast exposure time multiplied by the equivalent ad rate, then discounted for the quality of the exposure. A logo in a corner of the screen is not a commercial. We apply the discount openly rather than leading with the gross figure.

Do sponsors pay for hospitality or for logos?

In our experience sponsors renew for hospitality and access. Logos get the first meeting; the clients they entertained at the track get the second year.

Can Dandoun Group value a package I have already been offered?

Yes. We review the package from the buyer's side, tell you what it is worth to you specifically, and what to ask for instead.
